O anjo mencionado no título deste artigo ainda vive entre nós. Na verdade, é feito de carne e ossos como você e eu. Ele é um pai e marido devotado, além de ser bombeiro. Alguns anos atrás, nós éramos ambos missionários servindo no Brasil. Lá, conhecemos muitas pessoas interessantes. Lá, aprendemos a serví-los e fazer o melhor possível com os recursos disponíveis - sejam eles quais fossem. E lá... ... Minha vida foi tocada pelo seu modo de servir. Depois que ele deciciu me ajudar a aprender seu idioma natal - Inglês - nunca mais desistiu. Como resultado, agora mantenho este Web site e te ajudo com o Português. Embora eu já tenha 4 filhos, ainda não reservei o tempo como ele fez para ensinar meus filhos a língua inglesa. Mas Preciso. Eu vou. Antes de começar a levantar uma hora mais cedo para lermos as Escrituras por certa de três meses, ele já levantava mais cedo. Para me ensinar a dirigir ou fazer algumas panquecas paras os seis missionários que dividiam o mesmo apartamento. Em nosso último Natal juntos, ele me deu um presente muito pessoal - seu próprio exemplar da Bíblia e do Livro de Mórmon. Ainda lembro do que escreveu: "Caro Amigo - você costuma fazer as coisas velhas parecerem mais novas. Por isso te dou minhas escrituras. Espero que você possa continuar renovando sua vida vez após vez com os ensinamentos de Nosso Senhor... Quinze anos depois, ainda estou aprendendo com as observações que ele deixou nas margens. Vi a vida com mais clareza devido à influência dele. Ele dedicou seu tempo para me dar uma profissão. Seu exemplo ainda responde às minnhas perguntas, e gera outras... Por que alguma pessoas vêm e vão - e deixam uma marca permanente em nós - enquanto outras podem estão tão próximas, e tão distantes? (Acredito que sejam disfarçados...) Bem, como o sono me fugiu e eu estava estudando estes Livros Sagrados de novo, quis expressar minha gratidão pela oportunidade de conhecê-lo, de servir com ele e de ser tão bem servido por ele. E posso fazê-lo escrevendo este simples artigo. Espero que você também encontre alguém cujo exemplo possa ficar contigo pelos anos vindouros... Ou quem sabe você possa se tornar este tipo de anjo para alguém cuja vida nunca mais será a mesma após te encontrar? Acredite em anjos também. O primeiro deles pode estar bem à sua frente. Dê uma olhada no espelho.

The angel mentioned in the title of this article still lives among us. Indeed, he is made of flesh and bones like you and me. He is a devoted father, husband, and firefighter. Some years ago, we were both missionaries serving in Brazil. There, we met lots of interesting people. There, we learned how to serve them and do our best with the resources we had at hand - whatever they were. And there... ... My life was touched by his way of serving. After he decided to help me in learning his first language - English - he never gave it up. As a result, now I can run this Web site and help you learn Portuguese. Though I have 4 children by now, I haven't taken the time yet to do what he did and teach them the English language. But I must. I will. Before we started waking one hour earlier to read the Scriptures for about three months, he used to get up earlier too. Then, to teach me how to drive or to cook some pancakes for the six of us who shared the same flat. On our last Christmas together, he gave me a very personal gift - his own Bible and The Book of Mormon. I still remember his note: "Dear Friend - you usually make old things look newer. That's why I'm giving you my own scriptures. I hope you may keep renewing your life time after time with Our Lord's teachings..." Fifteen years later, I am still learning with the remarks he left on its margins. I've seen life in a clearer way because of his influence. He took the time to give me a profession. His example still answers many of my questions, and makes me ask many others... Why do some people come and go - and leave a permanent mark on us - while others may be so close, and yet so far? (I believe they are angels in disguise...) Well, as sleep had fled from my eyes and I was studying those Holy Books again, I wanted to express my gratitude for the opportunity I had to meet him, to serve with him and to be so amazingly served by him. And I can do so by writing this simple article. I do hope you also meet someone whose example may stay with you for years to come... Or who knows you may become this kind of angel to someone whose life will never be the same after meeting you? Anyway, believe in angels. The first one may be right in front of you. Check out your mirror. |
