As a family of six, we have six birthday parties and six cakes a year. Sometimes, we celebrate just within our family.
One of these dates, I was opening the gate when I heard the chorus:
- Daddy’s home! Daddy’s home!
“Wow! They’ve left the TV to receive me” – I thought.
My daydreaming was interrupted by the next shout:
- Mom, now you can cut the cake!

Como somos seis em família, temos seis aniversários e seis bolos por ano. Às vezes, celebramos só entre nós mesmos.
Num desses dias, eu ia abrindo o portão quando escutei o coro:
- O papai chegou! O papai chegou!
“Uau! Eles finalmente largaram a TV pra me receber” – pensei.
Meu devaneio foi interrompido pelo próximo grito:
- Mãe, já pode cortar o bolo!

Just another day, my wife was in the shower when our youngest knocked at the bathroom’s door:
- Mom, want a candy?
My wife took it and thanked her. Minutes later, she returns:
- Mom! Where’s the candy that I ‘lent’ to you?
|
Outro dia, enquanto a mãe estava tomando banho, nossa caçula bateu na porta do banheiro:
- Mãe, quer uma bala?
Minha esposa aceitou, agradecida. Minutos mais tarde, ela retorna:
- Mãe! Cadê a bala que eu te ‘empestei’?

In our city there is a river called Paraíba. One of our children asked:
- Mom, how many elephants can fill 'Paraíba', one upon the other?
- Maybe two or three. At some places, one.
- What about giraffes?

Em nossa cidade há um rio chamado Paraíba. Uma dos nossos perguntou:
- Mãe, quantos elefantes cabem no Paraíba, um em cima do outro?
- Uns dois, três. Em alguns lugares, só um.

- E quando você escreveu?
- Hoje. Dá uma emoção na gente, né?
- É...
- E você, pai? Quantos anos você tinha quando escreveu ‘angu’ pela primeira vez?
