1. Take a deep breath
Before reacting – whether positively or negatively – give yourself a moment to process and understand what just happened.

Take your time to discover your real feelings.
Why are you angry? Are you really angry or just sad? Are you feeling more than one emotion at once?
3. Replace negative thoughts
Focus on positive emotions. Use your imagination to think about the best possibilities. By changing your thoughts you can change your story.
4. Channel your energy
Express your emotions in some sort of physical activity – try to walk, run, swim or ride a bike. You will have more control over your emotions.
5. Explore your emotions
Talk to a friend about your feelings, or keep a journal. It will help you understand your emotions, and will make it easier to control them.
