Once upon a time there was a chicken named Penelope. She lived on a beautiful farm, in a very white chicken house. In front of the chicken house, there was a garden full of yellow and red flowers.
The owner of the farm had many grandchildren. They always brought their friends to play ball on the lawn, play hide-and-seek and ride their bikes. They also liked jumping rope and swimming in the river.
One day, while the children were playing on the lawn, one of them threw away some gum. Penelope the chicken saw it and ran quickly: she grabbed the gum in one peck. And wasn't it still very sweet?
From that day on, the chicken became even more attentive. Whenever the children were playing and one of them threw away a piece of gum, she quickly came into action. Feeling the flavor of each piece of gum was a great adventure!
With practice, Penelope learned to make gum balls. Little by little, she made bigger and bigger balls.
When her mother noticed Penelope's talent, she said:
– Daughter, I know you like to play making gum balls. But whenever you finish playing, brush your beak well, and leave it shining.
Penelope followed her mother's advice. She already brushed her beak when she woke up very early, and before going to sleep. But after that day, she started brushing her beak whenever she ate something.
The other chickens on the farm noticed that Penelope's beak was always clean and shining. Penelope explained that her beak shined because she brushed it frequently.
Penelope also ate well. She ate fruits and vegetables - and good quality corn. And when she brushed her beak, she got a nice smell in her mouth. At these times, Penelope felt full of energy.
One day, the children organized a talent show so that the farm animals could perform. A little pink pig was the first to appear. He told jokes, and everyone laughed a lot! Afterwards, a yellow duckling did a lot of somersaults and everyone had fun too.
Then, it was Penelope's turn…
She took three pieces of gum and made three balls - one of each color. The first was red, the second was yellow and the third was blue. With great skill, she threw each one up and balanced them with her beak.
The children and other animals had never seen a juggling chicken. Suddenly they started clapping and counting out loud:
“One, two, three, four, five thousand - Penelope is the smartest chicken in Brazil!”
At the end of the presentation, all the animals ran to hug Penelope.
The children returned home happy with the show and for having played with the farm animals. The pig, the duck and the chicken were also very happy to demonstrate their talents.
After that day, the animals were very excited to develop their new talents. They realized that each of them had at least one special talent that could make the lives of others happier.
And so, everyone lived happily for many years, playing, having fun and developing their talents.
